At Noise Cancelling, we are committed to safeguarding your privacy. This notice explains what personal data we collect when you use this website — at this stage, principally the pre-launch waitlist — what we do with it, and the rights you have over it. We update this notice from time to time; the date above tells you when it last changed.

What we collect

When you join the waitlist we collect your email address, whether you asked for The Weekly (Neil's Friday email), and the times you signed up and confirmed.

Like any website, our infrastructure also processes the technical data needed to serve and secure the site — your IP address, browser type and similar request details — and we record basic, first-party usage events such as a page being viewed or a form being submitted. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies on this site, and we do not sell personal data.

How we use it, and on what basis

Telling you when we open

We use the email address you gave us to tell you the doors are open. Legal basis: your consent — you asked us to.

Sending you The Weekly

If you ticked the box, we use your email address to send you Neil's Friday email. Legal basis: your consent, given by the unticked-by-default checkbox and confirmed by the link in our confirmation email. You can withdraw it at any time — every edition carries an unsubscribe link, or write to help@noisecancelling.co.

Running the service

We process technical data to send the confirmation email, keep the site secure and performing, and fix things that break. Legal basis: our legitimate interests in operating the site, which we have assessed do not override your rights.

Who processes it for us

Your data is handled by a small set of processors on our behalf: Supabase (our database, hosted in the European Union), Resend (email delivery, EU region — Resend is a US company, and any transfer outside the UK or EEA is protected by standard contractual safeguards), and Vercel (website hosting and delivery, which may process technical request data outside the UK and EEA under equivalent safeguards).

How long we keep it

Waitlist records are kept until we launch and for as long as you remain subscribed to hear from us. If you never confirm your email address, we may delete the unconfirmed record. You can ask us to delete your data at any time and we will.

Your rights

You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to correct it, to have it erased, to restrict or object to our processing of it, to receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw any consent you have given at any time (which does not affect processing that happened before you withdrew it). To exercise any of these, email help@noisecancelling.co.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please contact us first and we will do our best to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) or, outside the UK, to your local data protection authority.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
